Jaden's Flat Stanley Adventure
Earlier today, Jaden came across a Flat Stanley book in our family library that belonged to one of his siblings. After Jaden read the book, He decided that he wanted to make his own Flat Stanley. After searching the internet for a similar looking Flat Stanley to the image on the cover, we came up with a printable Flat Stanley for Jaden to color. I did have to do a little bit of re-sizing to get him to a workable size, but he is just perfect now.
Jaden wanted his Flat Stanley to look like the one on the cover of the book, but with a different color shirt and shoes. He decided on a green shirt and blue jeans. He is so excited to see where and what his Flat Stanley will get to do on his adventure. We are hoping that everyone that gets a chance to be a *Host Family* for Flat Stanley will enjoy his visit.
Not only will we be looking forward to the letters and pictures of his visit, but we are also looking forward to learning more about different places in the United States. We will be mapping and tracking the total miles that Flat Stanley will travel. So, please be sure to include that information with your letters.
I will be sure to email each of you as he begins his visit to your home, so that you will not be surprised when Flat Stanley arrives. Please only keep him for a few days, so that he will get a chance to visit many different places in the next few months. I am thinking about blogging about each of his adventures. We will see if that works out or not.
Here is Jaden's Flat Stanley as he prepares to depart to his first *Host Family*.
Jaden wants everyone to know that he is looking forward to reading more books about Flat Stanley, such as "The Invisible Stanley".

High School Biology w/ Nature Study + resources for younger siblings
Well, over the last few months I believe that we are finally ready to embark on our biology full force. I have been working to come up with a plan that could involve everyone without being too much for my youngest two children.
What I have come up with should be keeping with Charlotte Mason methods. We are using Apologia Biology 2nd Edition. We are including the Handbook of Nature Study by Anna Botsford Comstock for our nature additions to the biology. We will also be using a great deal of living books.
I am using ideas for including nature study from Handbook of Nature Study Blogspot. We are also using the Biology CD-Rom which has animations, videos, pronunciations and much, much more. I have also discovered another blog, called Homeschooler's Resources that has each module with links and lots of extras. Here is another great resource blog that is from a Co-op using Apologia Biology, which lists things according to each module.
I will be posting each module separately with resources for younger children also. I found a great resource that outlines what younger kids should be learning in science. I like the way that it is presented on this website: grades K-5 and grades 4-6. Here is cool website for kids for biology resources called Biology4kids.com.
